Yep. My iPod was stolen. Granted, it was stolen yesterday on the first day of school and TODAY is my birthday, but its close enough for me to be dramatic about.
I don’t even know what to say. I’m shocked and hurt and feel like someone curb stomped me. On the first day of school! I just don’t get it. I have it narrowed down to two classes. I suspect one person, but I honestly don’t know.
I was so angry this morning. So hurt. I just wanted to give them all worksheets and make ’em suffer all day. But, I couldn’t do that. Even though I (obviously) teach one asshat, the rest of my students are pretty awesome. Was that really fair to them? Even though I had to rearrange my lesson since I no longer had the song we were going to listen to, I couldn’t bring myself to worksheet them.
One student was very sweet. He actually had snuck around the building to try and put his backpack in my classroom, and caught me crying. I think I had actually finished by then, but my cry face is so obvious, that he knew something was wrong. He started pacing in the room and tried to help me look for it – just in case. He told me he’d keep an eye out forit, and even toyed with the idea of letting people know that he was looking to buy an iPod to sniff out the thief.
That’s why I couldn’t punish all of them. Because even though I have crappy days, there is always at least one kid out there who renews my faith in humanity.
